Federal SOGII protections

The Federal Sex Discrimination Act of 1984 is updated to include protections for Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status. Often referred to as SOGII.

However,  as with the WA legislation, there are exemptions for ‘religious organisations’. It was—and still is—legal for religious schools, homeless services, etc., to discriminate on these grounds. (Aged care providers are no longer able to do so.)
