Volunteering Opportunities
QLife Peer Supporter
QLife Peer Supporter volunteers provide support through the phone and webchat service. Volunteers work alongside QLife staff members. QLife is a free and anonymous peer support and referral service for LGBTIQ+ people. It is available via phone and webchat.
LGBTIQ+ Health Australia coordinate QLife in partnership with state-based LGBTIQ+ organisations. QLife is run by paid staff and trained volunteers. Living Proud operates QLife from our central Perth location.
Becoming a QLife Peer Supporter involves completing a 7 to 10-week training program. It also involves on-shift support and ongoing training and development.
To be eligible to volunteer with QLife, you must:
- Identify as an LGBTIQ+ peer
- Be available on weekday evenings
- Have strong verbal communication skills
- Be open-minded and willing to be challenged
- Hold positive, contemporary views on sex, sexuality and gender diversity
- Recognise that we don’t ‘solve’ people’s problems. But instead offer options and support their choices
- Be willing to participate in ongoing training and supervision
- Have a valid Working With Children Check (WWC)
The 2026 intake will happen in February/March.
