About Living Proud – LGBTIQ+ Community Services of WA

Living Proud has provided support to LGBTIQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse) people and communities in WA for over 40 years. We provide peer-support, information and resources. We are the longest running organisation of our kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Living Proud is the WA partner of the QLife national LGBTIQ+ telephone and web chat peer-support and referral service. We also run health and wellbeing initiatives and community capacity building.

We offer a number of training options for professionals including our award-winning Opening Closets Mental Health training. We also offer other full or half day workplace trainings to improve accessibility for LGBTIQ+ people. We run a variety of other projects for the LGBTIQ+ community.

Living Proud is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote the wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer and other sexuality, sex and gender diverse people in Western Australia.

  • Provide a range of quality services, support and resources which promote the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex and other sex, sexuality and gender diverse people (collectively LGBTIQ+).
  • Provide advocacy and leadership aimed at reducing disadvantage and discrimination among LGBTIQ+ people.
  • Encourage and empower LGBTIQ+ people to actively participate within the Association, partner organisations and the community.
  • Provide consultancy, information, education and training to a range of professionals and service providers which promotes access to services and improves the quality of services for LGBTIQ+ people.
  • Develop the capacity of groups, organisations, businesses and other institutions to be inclusive of LGBTIQ+ people.
  • To establish an ongoing structure to finance the above aims.

Values & Principles

We are proud of ourselves and of our community. No LGBTIQ+ person should have to fear violence or
discrimination and we celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance with pride.

Our History

Our story starts with the ‘Campaign Against Moral Persecution (CAMP)’ and ‘Phone a Friend’. CAMP is the foundational group for many Perth LGBTIQ+ organisations.

The Board

The Living Proud Board of Management is elected at the AGM. The Board is responsible for the ongoing strategic direction and day-to-day management of Living Proud.
