We’ve been delivering our Opening Closets training since 2004.
It is based on how to improve inclusion, team and customer retention and be a better employer with a higher level of LGBTIQA+SB understanding
Living Proud has developed variations of the training for different sectors (corporate, disability, AOD, etc.).
The half day workshop runs for 4 hours and covers the following:
This is a highly interactive training with plenty of opportunities for discussion and questions.
The full day Aware – Opening Closets workshop runs for 7 hours and includes all the content of the half day version. It also looks at preconceptions, myths and stereotypes. It provides a non-judgmental space for participants to examine the impact of their own values and unconscious biases. It also has more room for group discussions.
All Opening Closets workshops are delivered by two experienced LGBTIQA+SB peer facilitators.
The maximum number of participants for our workshops is 18. Each participant receives a copy of the training presentation as well as copies of the studies referred to, articles we reference and referral information.
Opening Closets training was independently evaluated in 2007 and 2016. We regularly update the package to reflect current trends and practices.
